Board Policy
- The Board of Education is committed to the observance of federal and state laws and regulations for the support of students to assist them in becoming college and career ready.
- The Board of Education supports federal law and its programs to assist in the support of students, specifically Title I (20 U.S. Code §6301, et seq., Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged), Title III (20 U.S. Code §6801, et seq., Language Instruction for English Learners and Immigrant Students), Title VI (20 U.S. Code §7421, Indian, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native Education), and 42 U.S.C. 11431, Education for the Homeless Children and Youth.
- The Board of Education recognizes and supports that school parent and family partnerships as outlined in federal programs are evidence-based strategies to increase student performance and academic achievement. As such, the Board recognizes and encourages school, parent, and family participation in the school system’s Title I, Title III, and Title VI programs. The Board views the education process as a cooperative effort among schools, parents/guardians, and the community.
- The Board delegates to the Superintendent and District Administration responsibility for developing administrative regulations to put into operation programs, activities, and procedures for parent and family engagement in accordance with state and federal law. Parent and Family Engagement in Education (Title I, Title III, Title VI) - 700.03-1
- The District Administration is committed to the observance of applicable laws and regulations related to Title I, Title III, and Title VI programs and promoting school, parent, and family and engagement that support students to become college and career ready.
- The District Administration will implement the following statutory requirements:
- Put into operation programs, activities, and procedures for parent and family engagement programs, consistent with section Elementary and Secondary Education Act as reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
- Those programs, activities, and procedures will be planned and operated with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children, consistent required with parent and family engagement legal requirements.
