AAPPL Testing for Online & Parent-Led Option

AAPPL Testing for Online & Parent-Led Option

This is a message for parents of Online and Parent-Guided Dual Immersion Learners. Thank you for your continued support of the Dual Language Program (DLI).  We are sending this communication to let you know the AAPPL testing window is approaching and arrangements need to be made for your student(s) to complete the assessment.  The AAPPL assessment (ACTFL Assessment of Performance toward Proficiency in Languages) is one of the tools we use to monitor progress toward target-language proficiency and is administered in the third through ninth grade. The testing window for Online and Parent Led DLI students is from Monday, Nov. 9 through Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.  The test can be taken at any time during that window from your home.  Before the assessment can be completed, we will need you to fill out this brief AAPPL Test Confirmation Form by Monday, Nov. 2, 2020.  Once we have received this information, your username and password will be sent to you by a Canyons School District Representative.  For planning purposes, the test should take approximately 90 minutes to complete.  Please refer to the AAPPL At-Home Testing Guide for more information and assistance.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
