Policy 400.09 – Breastfeeding/Lactation in the Workplace

The Board recognizes the need for a policy governing the use of the electronic information resources by students as outlined in Utah State Code §53G-7-1002. Responsibility is delegated to the District Administration for implementing the policy according to established regulations.

Policy 410.07 – Salary Guidelines

The Board of Education directs the District Administration to meet with representatives of the employee­­­ agent group in salary negotiation to establish salary schedules. It is also the policy of the Board to pay wages and salaries that shall enable the District to secure and retain qualified licensed employees.

Policy 420.09 – Reduction in Force (ESP)

Policy 300.10 – Named Gifts and Memorials

The Board of Education has authority and responsibility to name all new buildings, building re-models, or other facilities within the District. With the aim of improving instructional opportunities for students, the Board may consider accepting significant financial contributions to the school system.

Policy 300.06 – Student Transportation

The Board shall provide transportation to and from school for students who qualify in accordance with state The Board delegates to the District Administration the responsibility to develop and implement transportation regulations which conform to the State Board of Education transportation policies.

The Board of Education is committed to a school and employee environment that fosters student learning and encourages healthy lifestyles and lifelong wellness for students and employees. The Board of Education values employee wellness and encourages the Superintendent and District Administration to develop and maintain employee wellness initiatives and activities.

The Board recognizes that all Canyons employees serve the public through their employment with the District. Opportunities may arise for District employees to be elected or appointed to public office, either in local or state government or other school district’s boards of education.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
