The chilly fall storm that recently hit the Salt Lake Valley didn’t dampen spirits at the 2012 Canyons District Middle School Intramurals Cross Country Meet.
Butler Middle shined bright at the race, capturing the overall trophies for both the boys and girls categories.
The results of the event held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Eastmont Middle School are:

The fastest boys of the day were Jacob DeBry, Crescent View; Tyler Frost, Albion; and Connor Patten, Midvale. The fastest girls of the day were Jaci Smiley, Crescent View; Gretenen Hyer, Mount Jordan; and Lena Lindsay, Eastmont.
Individual winners were awarded medals and the fastest teams received trophies.
Since 2009, Canyons District has sponsored competitions for CSD middle school students. At the championship races held each fall, the top three girls and three boys from each of Canyons’ eight middle schools run a 1.75-mile cross country race around the Eastmont campus.
The middle school intramurals program was developed to promote healthy lifestyles and gauge interest for future competitive sports programs.
