Did you know when school is out for summer, children can still get free school meals?
Four Canyons District schools will be serving free breakfast and lunch from June 3 to July 31 as part of the federally-approved Summer Food Service Program. All children 18 years and younger are eligible to receive the meals free of charge.
“This is a program for all children. You don’t need to be enrolled in Canyons District, or even live within our boundaries, to take advantage of these summer meals,” said CSD’s Nutrition Services Director Sebasthian Varas.
The meals will be served at the following sites, Monday through Friday. Breakfast will run from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- East Midvale Elementary, 6990 S. 300 East, Midvale
- Midvale Elementary, 7830 S. Chapel Street, Midvale
- Sandy Elementary, 8725 S. 280 East, Sandy
- Copperview Elementary, 8449 Monroe St., Midvale
For a limited time (June 3-6) to coincide with a summer program, meals will also be served at Mount Jordan Middle, 9351 Mountaineer Ln. in Sandy.
Meals must be eaten at the school cafeteria. They may not be taken home.
There will be no meal service on June 17, and July 4 and 24 when Canyons schools and District Offices close in observance of national and state holidays.
Canyons School District is an equal opportunity provider of the federal summer meal program.
