The Bengals have once again brought home top awards from the International National High School Model United Nations Conference held in New York City.
In all, 20 Brighton High students attended the conference, mingling with another 3,500 students from 72 countries. Model UN students are able to step into the shoes of delegates to the United Nations, simulating UN committees, and learning about diplomacy, international relations, and current world issues.
Brighton’s main team, representing Costa Rica, took first place in Preparation and Research, besting elite prep and private schools from across the globe. Two Brighton students represented Somalia on the Security Council, an opportunity reserved for top competitors, took first in this Specialized Committee.
This year’s conference was headlined by Former President Joe Biden who took questions from students. Brighton’s Model United Nation President Suzy Radzinski and Advisor James Hodges were invited to a private meeting and photo opportunity with the President.
