Disney’s Demi Lovato Is A Hit At Oak Hollow Elementary School

The outlook Monday in Canyons School District was sunny with a chance of seeing a star.

By now, the best-kept secret in Canyons is old news: Demi Lovato, star of Disney’s “Sonny With A Chance” and “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,” arrived in Utah on Monday to give a concert at the school of one of her most ardent admirers. Oak Hollow Elementary student Camryn Crowe, 8, who was selected by Radio Disney as Miss Lovato’s biggest fan, had front-row seats to the 30-minute show, which was preceded by a meet-and-greet with Lovato, who recently confirmed rumors she is dating teen hearthrob Joe Jonas.

Camryn and her family, as well as Camryn’s Girl Scout troop, were able to shake hands, ask for autographs and get pictures taken with Lovato, who was notably very kind to all the students, faculty and parents who attended the Radio Disney event. “This is one of the funnest concerts I’ve done in my whole life,” Lovato told the screaming students at the end of her appearance.

To wrap up the surprise concert, Miss Lovato thanked her band and waved goodbye to her new fans-for-life before slipping out the back door, climbing into a black SUV and driving away from the school that, at least for one day, appeared to be the happiest place on earth.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
