Do athletes make better students? If these sporting students are any example, there may be something to studies suggesting the traits of perseverance and commitment exhibited by successful athletes also translate to high performance in the classroom and the workplace.
Eleven Canyons District athletes were presented Academic All-State Awards this spring for excelling in sports while maintaining high grade point averages (GPA). The awards are announced each sports season by the Utah High School Activities Association with this latest round going to athletes in track and field, soccer, baseball and golf.
These athletes boast a combined average GPA of 3.999, and they bring to 31 the total number of CSD’s All-State honorees for the 2016-2017 school year.
