Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSO)

Student leadership organizations are recognized as integral to the Career and Technical Education program.  Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) provide a unique program of career and leadership development, motivation and recognition of students enrolled in career and technical programs.  

DECA

The mission of DECA, Inc. is to enhance the co-curricular education of students with interest in marketing, management and entrepreneurship.  DECA helps students develop skills and competence for marketing careers, build self-esteem, experience leadership and practice community service.  DECA is committed to the advocacy of marketing education and the growth of business/education partnerships.

Educators Rising

Educators Rising cultivates highly skilled educators by guiding young people on a path to becoming accomplished teachers, beginning in high school and extending through college and into the profession.

FBLA - Future Business Leaders of America

FCCLA - Family, Career and Community Leaders of America

The mission of FCCLA is to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education.  Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge and vocational preparation.

HOSA - Future Health Professionals

The mission of HOSA is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and experience.  The purpose of the HOSA organization is to develop leadership and technical HOSA skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.

SkillsUSA

The mission of SkillsUSA is an applied method of instruction for preparing America’s high performance workers in public career and technical programs.  It provides quality education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development.  It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes and communications skills.  It emphasizes total quality at work – high ethical standards, superior work skills, life-long education, and pride in the dignity of work.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
