LearnPlatform

The LearnPlatform is a database of digital instructional materials that have been reviewed for use in Canyons classrooms. Teachers, students, and families can use the searchable database to determine if a desired resource has already been reviewed or to identify an approved resource for a specific classroom need.

All apps, extensions, and software must be approved. Websites must also be approved IF they collect student personal identifiable information (i.e. require a student login). Digital materials are approved if they follow best practices and meet FERPA, CIPA, and COPPA data security standards to ensure student safety. Requests for approval are submitted on the LearnPlatform.

Digital Materials will be approved on a quarterly basis. Requests are due:

  • September 1
  • December 1
  • March 1
  • June 1

*Notification of approval may take up to 60 days depending on how quickly vendors return the required Data Privacy Agreement.

Even if a tool is approved, it might not be suitable for every lesson. Educators may consult with their school’s Instructional Coach or the Instructional Supports Department Content Specialist to determine if the material supports best practices for a specific lesson. If a digital tool requiring approval is used without approval, classroom teachers are liable for the security of student data and student safety.

To submit a request, follow these instructions.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
