Thank you for being patient as we update our Elementary ELA website.
The vision of Elementary ELA in Canyons District is founded in the Science of Reading. Students in Canyons Elementary Schools learn to communicate ideas effectively. Instruction includes the four modalities of literacy: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students will develop critical thinking skills using text, rigorous tasks, discourse and writing. In grades K-3 foundational reading is quintessential and establishes the base for literacy.
Sharing classes with Special Educators or Dual Language Immersion classes is needed with the Wonders McGraw-Hill platform. Use this how-to explanation to set up a shared class account and then toggle between classes as needed.
Specialists are always here to help you. You are welcome to contact Leigh Ann Fisher or Bernice Allen.
There is also a Canvas Course where you can find helpful videos, content and support. Consider self enrolling and looking for resources. Self enroll link: https://canyons.instructure.com/enroll/KBJFGC.
Make sure you are accessing your 95% presentation codes, teacher’s editions and ancillary materials through the One95 platform through clever. Accessing through the 95% website will be going away in the summer of 2025
RISE benchmarks in grades 3-5 will be unavailable for the 24-25 school year while they update them to align to the new standard

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added: “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
