It’s been said that great leaders don’t aspire to be leaders. They set out to make a difference. This week for National Assistant Principals Week, April 4-8, we salute the difference-makers in Canyons District. While much of the work of our assistant principals happens behind the scenes — analyzing student achievement data, coaching teachers and staff, and managing emergency drills — there is nary an operational detail in our schools that doesn’t require the attention of an AP. They are connecters and bridge-builders, working with the community to secure resources for students and with parents to help students succeed. They keep the peace in school hallways and at sporting and arts events. They befriend students who need a friend, and celebrate student wins. They coordinate busing, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services. They are coordinators, cheerleaders, and student champions. So, let’s give a roaring round of applause to CSD’s APs!
