The deadline to submit entries in our Recipe Contest has been extended to give students more time to whip up a winning culinary delight.
Entries will be accepted until Thursday, March 5, 2015. The winner will be announced in March, which is National Nutrition Month.
The submission judged as the best by our Nutrition Services Department will become part of the school lunch menu and named after the student who submitted it.
The winning recipe must be original and include a protein, a vegetable, and a grain. All components can be in one recipe or may be included as side dishes.
Participants must fill out this online Recipe Submission Form.
On the form, students will be asked to include the name of the recipe, ingredients, cooking instructions, and the number of servings. The recipe may not include any tree nuts or peanuts due to allergies in the District. Only one recipe per student will be accepted.
Please keep in mind that the winning recipe will need to be made on a mass scale. Recipes that require too much time or money to prepare likely will not be chosen.
In addition, school meals are required to meet health and nutrition standards. The meals served in our cafeterias must be low in sodium, saturated fat and calories, and must be prepared using whole grains.
