Canyons School District’s high schools received an extra $30,000 worth of gifts under the tree this holiday season. Nu Skin gave funding for projects based on STEAM — science, technology, engineering, arts and math — to teachers at Alta, Brighton, Corner Canyon, Hillcrest and Jordan high schools. Teachers submitted funding proposals to the Canyons School District Education Foundation, which forwarded the proposals to Nu Skin for selection. The winners were honored at a luncheon Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013 at the Nu Skin headquarters in Provo. They are:
- Alta teacher Denise Crane: $5,000 for Systems Collaborative Exhibit
- Brighton teacher Sarah Carlson: $5,800 for Brighton FIRST Robotics
- Corner Canyon teacher Royce Shelley: $5,000 for Chromebooks for Math
- Hillcrest teachers Josh Long & Beau Brewster: $6,400 for Lighting Exploration
- Jordan teacher Heather Gooch: $6,000 for AP Environmental Studies
