If it takes a village to educate a child, then Canyons has one bustling village. Last school year, Canyons School District enlisted 12,000 volunteers to help children learn to read, cross the street, or build stage sets for the school play. That’s a 20 percent increase in volunteers from the prior year and an immeasurable boost to the education of 33,000 children in the Canyons District community.
To honor our treasured partners in education, Canyons School District is celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Week Sept. 16-20. In addition to local school recognitions, Canyons volunteers have been invited to a Board of Education reception and recognitions event on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at the Canyons Support Services Center, 9361 S. 300 East.
To the parents, grandparents, community members and local agencies and businesses who signed up to lend a hand: We salute you!
