Renowned historian John P. Kaminski, known as one of the great storytellers of American History, is speaking at Alta High School Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14, 2013 as part of the School’s Constitution Week kick-off activities. The community is welcome to attend.
Kaminski’s Friday presentation, “Adams and Jefferson: The Troubled Friendship,” starts at 6:30 p.m. in the media center at the school, 11055 S. Hawk Highway (1000 East). The community presentation is free of charge.
A Constitution Week Saturday event aimed at students and teachers will feature additional presentations by Kaminski, professor and founder of the Center of the Study of the American Constitution at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Saturday event begins at 8 a.m. at Alta High. Teachers will have an opportunity to discuss lesson presentation ideas with Kaminski’s colleague, professor Tim Moore, at 9 a.m. Community members who wish to attend are asked to provide a $5 donation.
Kaminski has authored about two dozen books about Thomas Jefferson, the U.S. Constitution and other U.S. historical figures and events. A popular conference speaker, Kaminski has addressed diverse audiences nationwide, from federal judges to C-SPAN viewers.
