Canyons District honors the memory of the men and women who died during the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

CSD Interim Superintendent Ginger Rhode noted the “solemn event” in our country’s history.

“Twelve years ago, on Sept. 11, 2001, our country was attacked. Even though our attackers sought to steal what we hold most precious, our collective spirit – as a country, as a people – was never broken. In true American spirit, we did not let terror reign,” she said.

“Now, more than ever, it is our responsibility, as stewards of our schools, to guide our students to be the best that they can possibly be. In these times of international strife, as our country’s leaders struggle with difficult diplomatic decisions, we must never forget that our students, who have never known life without war, are the future defenders of freedom and the leaders of a better world.”

CSD schools are recognizing Patriot Day in various ways, including flying flags at half-staff.

At Albion Middle, 20 students who have recently been rewarded for their good behavior helped place 230 U.S. flags in the grassy areas lining the campus.
