Song rang out after Utah Gov. Gary Herbert’s State of the State Address on Wednesday night. And the music came from Canyons District students.
Brookwood’s fourth-grade choir was invited to perform at the State Capitol following Gov.Herbert’s State of the State address.
At a reception after Gov. Herbert’s remarks, the choir of 85 students performed three original songs composed by Carrie Wrigley, the wife of Canyons Board Vice President Steve Wrigley. The songs, which reflect Utah history and were written to compliment fourth-grade Utah studies, are titled “Old Lake Bonneville,” “Father Escalante,” and “Everybody Plays a Part.”
Gov. Herbert and his wife, Jeanette, stopped by to meet the students and pose for some pictures.
Principal Julie Mootz said the experience was “incredible” for the students.
Congratulations to the Brookwood students and Mrs. Wrigley for this tremendous honor.
