Canyons District has agreed to endorse the philosophy behind and participate in “Stand4Change,” a national anti-bullying effort that will take place on Friday, May 4, 2012.
On Friday, students, faculty, staff and parents nationwide are encouraged to take a stand against bullying and personally demonstrate a commitment to no longer tolerate bullying in our schools and communities. The school communities that have signed up to participate are urged on that day to stand and join hands at noon to show solidarity in the campaign to eradicate bullying in U.S. schools.
More information can be found at Stand4Change.
For the unfamiliar, it’s a program of the group Defeat the Label, a 501(c) 3 that creates awareness of bullying-related issues for middle and high school students.
Stand4Change Day is supported by the Anti-Defamation League, American Association of School Administrators, National Education Association, American Federations of Teachers and Education International.
The District also wants to remind students, parents, faculty and staff about the “Report It” button on the Web site that can be used at any time to anonymously report bullying, hazing, harassment or discrimination. Those e-mails go directly to the Canyons District Office of Civil Rights and Accommodations.
