Attention, students: Get a jumpstart on credits required for high school graduation by attending classes during the summer.
The online registration window for Canyons District’s Summer Semester, which is available for any incoming ninth- through 12th-grade student, is now open. Students who don’t usually attend Canyons District schools also are welcome to attend.
The deadline to register for classes is June 11.
Students can earn .5 credits in English, Computer Technology, Financial Literacy, ACT Prep and Participation Skills and Techniques.
Classes in the June 18-29 semester are held in two sessions. Session No. 1 will be from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Session No. 2 is 11:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. They will be held Monday-Friday at Entrada High School, 825 E. 9085 South.
This year, Canyons has adopted a “blended learning format” for the Summer Semester classes. That means the curriculum will be delivered both in a traditional classroom and via the Internet. About 40 percent of the course content will be delivered online. Students who do not have at-home access to the Internet will be given access to Entrada High’s computer labs.
Click here to register and to pay for the classes, which will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
A non-refundable $25 fee will be assessed at registration. Additionally, each class costs $65 except for the Participation Skills and Techniques class, which is $85 and will be held at Indian Hills Middle School, 1180 E. Sanders Road.
No refunds will be given after the first day of the semester.
