Superintendent Dave Doty invites faculty, students, staff and other folks in the Canyons community to join him in the Superintendent’s Reading Challenge 2011.
The challenge is really quite simple: read at least one book a month or 12 total for the year. Dr. Doty plans to share anecdotes of his reading adventures on his blog, “Dave’s Dialogue,” found on the Canyons Web site.
A great way to track your reading and find out what other people are saying about the books they have read is at the free Web site Shelfari.com.

Dr. Doty has created a group on the site if you’re inclined to join and see what types of books are on peoples’ shelves. The group is “Canyons School District Superintendent’s Challenge.” Dr. Doty will post the books he’s reading, and we ask you to do the same. Join us. After all, we’re inclined to agree with Irish writer Sir Richard Steele, who noted, “Reading is to the mind is what exercise is to the body. ”
