Canyons District “rolled out the red carpet” for students as they returned to classes on Monday, the first day of the 2010-2011 school year.
At four CSD elementary schools Copperview, East Midvale, Midvale and Sandy students walked to the front doors on red carpets. They were greeted by cheering teachers and administrators. Many parents, amid bunches of balloons and posters, also stood at the edge of the carpets, snapping photographs of their children.
Officials in Canyons District say the red carpet events provided a warm welcome for students and the community. Also, the events underscored the importance of school: It’s a child’s ticket to success and an entryway to preparing for college and careers.
