Anthony Cheng, a sixth-grade student in Canyons District, is the new state National Geographic Bee champion.
For winning the 22nd annual geography bee, Cheng received $100 and a chance to earn $25,000 at the national contest in Washington, D.C. Cheng, who attends Peruvian Park Elementary School, beat 96 of Utah’s best and brightest at the state final last Friday at Thanksgiving Point.
In May, Cheng will represent Utah at nationals, which is hosted by “Jeopardy” host Alex Trebek.
