CSD Teachers In Car-Giveaway Contest

Canyons District teachers have been nominated for a chance to win the use of a 2010 Nissan Rogue for two years and a $1,000 Visa card for classroom supplies.

How do they win? In the tradition of “American Idol” and “Dancing With The Stars,” the public is asked to vote for the teacher who has gone above and beyond the call of classroom duty. Contest organizers say the vote tally will play a big part in determining which teachers drive away with first, second and third prize.

Second place receives a $750 Visa card for supplies and third place receives $500 Visa card for classroom supplies.

Go to http://saltlakeradiocontest.com to see the list of nominated teachers.

The “The Teacher Who Does It Better” contest honors teachers who work hard to improve their schools. The giveaway is sponsored by Burt Brothers Tire & Service, KSL Newsradio, FM 100.3, Utah’s Classic 103.5, The Arrow and KSL-TV Channel 5.

Winners up will be notified no later than May 3.

Lucie Chamberlain

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
