SafeUT

The SafeUT Crisis Chat and Tip Line is a statewide service that provides real-time crisis intervention to youth through live chat and a confidential tip program – right from your smartphone.

UNI MCOT provides free, prompt, face-to-face response to any resident of Salt Lake County who is experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Available all-day and all-night.  The organization also offers consultation and support to individuals, families and schools.

Stabilization & Mobile Response: Utah Dept. of Human Services

SMR works for families to minimize the impact of challenges, create safety plans, and connect families to other helpful resources. They may also provide additional services that teach skills to improve family functioning and mitigate future challenges.

Services include immediate crisis counseling for youth and families, as well as short-term 60-day counseling intervention, and longer term mental health counseling. Longer-term services are available for Medicaid-qualified youth.

Youth and families that do not have an appointment but need to speak with someone right away can access free crisis counseling by phone or in person at the Juvenile Receiving Center.  This all-day and all-night service is for 8- to 17-year-old children.

Available daily from 1 to 8 p.m. MST.  This service provides support for students (primarily LGBTQ+ students) in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in need of a safe and judgement-free place to talk.

Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute

UNI’s mental and behavioral health services focus on treating all aspects of the individual to achieve balance in mental health. Specialists treat conditions like anxiety, eating disorders, major depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, and substance abuse/chemical dependency for all ages.

A secure, short-term (up to 23 hours) center that provided  therapeutic crisis management, an assessment based on strengths and psychiatric needs, medication intervention, and wellness/recovery/discharge planning.  This service is available all-day and all-night.

Alta View Elementary

If a movie about super teachers were ever made, Lucie Chamberlain would be a prime candidate for a leading role. Fortunately for her kindergarten students at Alta View Elementary, she already thrives in a supporting role for them. Parents thank her for being a “super teacher.” She is also described as an “amazing colleague.” Whether students need help in the classroom or from home while sick, Lucie goes above and beyond to help them learn, overcome fears, and feel important and cared for. Lucie is the reason a number of kids went from hating school to loving it, according to parents. The way she exudes patience, sweetness, positive energy, and love for her students with special needs melts is appreciated and admired. One parent noted: “Both my kids wish she could be their teacher forever.” Another added:  “She treats every student like their learning and their feelings are her priority.” Super teacher, indeed!
