The Albion Middle School community is sponsoring a fund-raising event to help the people of Chile, who are struggling with the devastation wrought last weekend by an earthquake that registered 8.8 on the Richter scale.  Please plan to attend the Saturday, March 13 event, which from 4 to 8 p.m. will feature local bands and Chilean folk music and cuisine.  The massive quake, which scientists say was the seventh-strongest in recorded history and may have changed the Earth’s rotation, killed more killed more than 700 people and caused widespread devastation in the South American country.  This cause strikes close to home for Roberto Jimenez, an Assistant Principal at Albion, who was born in Santiago, Chile. Mr. Jimenez, who completed his undergraduate education at a university in Temuco, Chile, travels back to his native country often to see his family and support educational efforts there.  All contributions made at the Albion event will benefit the Chilean Red Cross.  Albion Middle School is at 2755 E.
