Canyons School District schools and office buildings will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20 to commemorate Presidents Day, a national holiday held each year on the third Monday in February. Classes will resume per their regular bell schedules on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Due to parent-teacher conferences being held this week, most schools also will be closed on Friday, Feb. 17 to provide teachers compensatory time for working late into the evenings. For elementary schools, the preceding Thursday, Feb. 16, is an early-out-day, which means the afternoon bell rings at 1:40 p.m. Parents and guardians with questions are encouraged to contact their school’s Main Office.
The long weekend also presents Canyons District’s Information Technology Department an opportunity to install new network equipment with minimal disruption. On Saturday, Feb. 18, IT will start to use new core network equipment, and during the cutover, there will be a disruption to services, including District e-mail, Skyward, Canyons Virtual High School and connectivity to the Internet from all schools and District Offices. The outage is expected to last just a few hours — however, there’s a possibility it may last until about 5 p.m.
