Canyons School District has received a $48,000 State Superintendent Innovation Grant, aimed at encouraging innovative use of technology to improve student achievement.
Canyons is one of seven recipients statewide to share in the $375,250 in grant money offered by State Superintendent Larry K. Shumway. More than 400 teachers, schools and districts applied for grants. Awardees were chosen “because they have the potential to revolutionize learning and management in our schools,” the Utah State Office of Education reported.
Canyons will use the money to support data-based decision-making for students who are at risk for academic failure. Canyons achievement coaches and specially trained aides will use technology to track how well interventions are working with each child, and help teachers adjust their instruction if needed.
