CTE prepares students for the future by developing academic and technical skills in high demand, providing career exploration and work-based learning opportunities, and creating pathways leading to future education training or employment.
Canyons School District seeks to serve students by providing opportunities for them to realize their potential as contributing citizens and life-long learners. In cooperation with students, parents and community, we are committed to helping each student acquire academic skills, prepare for the world of work, and develop attributes of citizenship necessary in a democratic society. As part of this goal, Canyons School District has comprehensive Career and Technical Education programs and partnerships.
The mission of Career and Technical Education is to provide all students a seamless education system through competency-based instruction. The structured training each student receives gives him or her the tools needed to be successful in post high school employment and post secondary education including technical school and two and four year college.
In addition to other sources of funding, the Canyons School District receives federal funding for career and technical education through the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006. The Act requires reports of progress toward achieving perfomance levels on core indicators of performance.
